Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham Live Update Day 4: Judoka Shushila Devi opened India’s medal count on Day 4 by winning a silver in 48kg category. India lawn bowls team assured itself a historic first ever Commonwealth Games medal after defeating New Zealand 16-13 in the semi-final of the women’s fours event, on Monday. This will be India’s maiden final appearance in the women’s fours format of the competition. Weightlifter Ajay Singh finished fourth in the men’s 81kg final.

The Indians started brilliantly and dominated the first two quarters to enjoy a comfortable 3-0 lead at half time. But the Englishmen came out hard in the final two quarters to stun the Indians.

Vijay Kumar Yadav wins bronze in men’s 60kg judo final

Vijay Kumar Yadav won a bronze medal in the judo men’s- 60kg final at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Monday. With this win, Yadav gave India its eighth medal in the Birmingham 2022. Vijay Kumar bagged a waza-ari after just 5 seconds of the bell and held on to clinch the ippon to take home the bronze medal in the men’s 60 Kg Judo event. The match lasted all but 58 seconds.
